AND A HAPPY ST.PADDY'S DAY TO YA!
We don't subscribe to 'The Grass is Always Greener' even when we find ourselves stuck on a dry mound of dirt somewhere. Today's our SHAM-ROCK report with all things green issue. Take a gander at our version of green with some GREEN-GRAM locations around the world.
We also have for ya an interview with musician Geoffrey Castle - R&B, Funk, Jazz & Blues mix of traditional Celtic melodies on electric six-string violin, and a wee bit about his wife Shannon who is a MERMAID! For some green is all about sustainability - taking a walk in the forest or having a green thumb and for others its about feeling irie or enjoying a green beer to celebrate Irish tradition. Whatever your definition -we hope to make it easy being green today!

In 2017 we had the pleasure of working on an event with Cypress Hill. They are the first Latin-American hip-hop group to have sold multi-platinum & platinum albums - over 20 million albums worldwide. This event was put on by GrasshopperHub, the MJBA, Reefer, Reform.Rocks, GreenLady, OG Farms, Prohibition Brands, and covered by Dope Magazine.
AND NO GREEN ISSUE would be complete without the epitome of West Coast hip-hop culture SNOOP DOGG! We are still smiling from the 2016 private VIP event in Seattle where we were invited by the "Fairy Godmother," Kat Heart
In a conversation with musician and electric six-string violinist Geoffrey Castle - he asked us about the meaning of our business name URBANSALT? We summed it up for him that we really just wish we could be mermaids & then he told us that his wife IS A MERMAID! We were so inspired to create an Irish Ceili event On the HIYU, a retired ferry in Seattle, WA - featuring Geoffrey Castle's R&B, funk, jazz, and blues mix of traditional Celtic melodies along with his mermaid-wife Shannon's artwork and weave in an ol' Irish folklore tale of mermaids known as 'Merrows'. Legend has it that these mermaids can only swim underwater with the help of a red magic cap. Humans could be granted use of the cap to visit the Merrow's home under the ocean. Like most interpretations these magical creatures were thought to seduce young men by singing to them and dragging them to the bottom of the sea... Though we had to postpone this event in 2020, with a wee bit o' luck we were able to
interview Geoffrey Castle for St.Paddy's Day - thank you Geoffrey!!!
Q&A with GEOFFREY CASTLE
Q: You told us your wife is a mermaid...?
A: She is!! She is able to channel other worlds and render them in glass with her art. What she does is impossible. Shannon Castle creates art mermaids & angels and currently is working on a mermaid in an idyllic pond that is 10ft long by 4ft high. To see her work visit www.shannoncastleart.com
Q: What have you been up to during the pandemic and quarantine?
A: I have been really busy. I renovated a house, sold it and moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico and bought two properties. I also started the composing stage of a new album.
Q: What can you tell us about the album?
A: I spent a lot of time driving during 2020. I went from Seattle to Santa Fe three times. I have also spent a lot of time touring. There is a feeling you get driving down the highway. A feeling you get when you are passing through these landscapes. Or when you are driving through canyon lands in Moab, over the cascade mountains or through deserts where you are in the middle of nowhere. I am working on capturing that feeling for my next album.
Q: Can you tell us about one of your best memories on tour?
A: I did this gig with Alan White and it was my first time flying in a private jet. We flew to Cary, North Carolina. We were doing this big fundraiser at an amphitheater in Cary and we performed with Jack Bruce, Grand Funk Railroad, Jefferson Starship and Georgia Satellites... - really the question is who wasn't there? It was 2 solid days of music and everyone was there. We performed on stage with members of Queen on the keyboards, Alan on the drums and I performed Voodoo Child with Randy Hanson that tore the house down.
Q: What does an Irish celebration/dinner look like in your house?
A: During normal times we are with friends, fans, and strangers who won't be strangers for long because I would be performing. This year will be the first year for the dinner and my wife is not only a mermaid, but she also makes the best corned beef and cabbage ever!
