When you're up at 4am for the R2AK (Race to Alaska) send off from Port Townsend heading 750 miles to Ketchikan, Alaska after an evening of Pre-Race Ruckusing, free R2AK logo tattoo from Clae Welch (the real deal) and dancing to Uncle Funk & the Dope 6 - as they say here it was "ALL THE SPIRIT OF RACE TO ALASKA, with 10% OF THE DANGER". So, what were we craving for breakfast - Pane d'Amore Artisan Bakery's freshly baked breads of the day (vegan options) and grilled cheese add-ons like house made tomato chutney, fried egg and Mama Lil's Peppers. Hiding in the middle of the shipyard is Blue Moose Cafe where you can get an All-American breakfast served all day home-style delicious. FOOD CO-OP has your coffee ready to grab & go along with a fresh deli hot bar and all sorts of gourmet/organic snacks.

We collaborated on the launch of the newly branded STROLL magazine at The Vault in Scottsdale. This space was built to securely house your most prized automobiles with climate control for both classic and modern vehicles - "built by car enthusiasts for car enthusiasts". A 1400 square foot lounge & theatre with panoramic views of their collection. Catered bites by Chef Justin Moldenhauer of My Conscious Chef - showcased his holistic approach to food that makes you feel as good as it tastes. Arizona Mixers™ owner Alex Micklos and bartender Heather along with Tito’s Handmade Vodka created signature cocktail and mocktail mixes from a Watermelon Mule to a fresh Blueberry-Lavender Press. Justin Hopkins entertained guests - producer/singer/songwriter of the Los Angeles music scene. Hopkins is most at home performing his signature barefoot soul: a mash of roots, old soul music, and laid-back beach inspired folk. You might recognize him from Last Call with Carson Daly as a house guitar player, or on Season 2 of The Voice. Cookie Brokers Custom Bakery of Arcadia created branded STROLL cookies and Event Sponsor Frank Aazami of Russ Lyon’s Sotheby’s - Private Client Group celebrated in support of local residents and the community.

Q: So, you are from Washington?
A: I am from Kent, Washington - Home of Sir-Mix-A-Lot. I grew up 20 minutes south of Seattle. Now I live in Kirkland part of the time and Connecticut most of the time. I don’t go there as often but I think it’s where my heart is more - where I am most comfortable.

Q: Tell us about your last interview for SportsCenter, that one you did with Marshawn?
A: He was great. He was at his sister’s house. It was my last night of the job - I asked Aaron Rodgers, Jamal, Sue Bird, Marshawn and Fred McGriff to be guests during the show. My vision of it was to do the show and interrupt with guests and then go back to the highlights and have it be free flowing. That was a little too avant- garde for ESPN so they had me tape the interviews before the show and Marshawn was just great. He is a really sweet guy. People misunderstood him from way back. I got to know him as a rookie, so I kind of had a longer relationship and knew him for who he really is and you see it - look at all the things he has been involved in, how funny he is, his personality. He is very engaging!

Q: Can you tell us about your next endeavor with Caesars Sportsbook?
A: It’s been fun. After I left ESPN in late May in 2021, I had nothing locked in. I had a couple of commercial things I knew that I was doing. NBC called about the Olympics; I did that for Peacock for the Summer Games in Tokyo. Other than that, I had no idea. Fortunately, a few companies seemed to like me, and Caesars stood out. I went to school at UNLV, and I played football there. The first place I visited was Caesars. That was my recruiting trip - they took me out on the town, and we went to Caesars. It’s kinda funny all these years later coming back full circle… Kenny Mayne (@Kenny_Mayne) / Twitter
